Who is the composer?

Feel free to ignore the video part of the ad, I posted the video for its score.

I've been trying to identify the composer of the score for years now. I think it's nice, even if the ad itself is kind of tacky. The ad is titled "Seven Impressions" or just "Seven series." All I could find out from years of Google is that BMW has a prize competition for classical music, held almost every year, which may have something to do with this. I dont think it's from released commercial work. At least, musicID can't identify it(#43 on an AT&T cell, which probably uses a proprietary Philips algorithm. I've been following that since it was first announced just for this ad)

Unfortunately, the main website for prize competition is in German. If you know anyone who can identify contemporary classical music by categorical style and who isnt too snobby to listen to commercial work, let me know. I realize how unlikely that would be

I'm cleaning out the HD of images I've accumulated. Enjoy, especially if you find yourself with plenty of time on your hands.

Another Year, Another Nail

I didn't want to make a new post, because that would unacceptably bury the 'AWESOME' motivational picture. I couldn't have that... yeah that's exactly why I haven't posted.

But anyway it's a new year, even according to the Chinese now, so we can all be in agreement. Exactly three weeks until the new F1 season starts, and about half a year until standardized examinations through which I've decided to principally define myself.

Later in the summer seems to be when a number of high-expectation fiction books are scheduled to be released: William Gibson's "Spook Country;" Robert Charles Wilson's "Axis" which is the sequel to "Spin;" the next batch of high quality toilet paper from Frank Herbert's son; and Harry Potter 7. I dont know what else I'll be doing in July and August, but like any good addict, I'll probably be jonesing in September. Hopefully some good movies will be out around then.

Right now I'm watching a band play for recovering marathon runners across the street at the Superdome. The band had a crowd at one point. But the crowd people were just standing there, the only person dancing was a 3-year-old who seemed to be slowly headbanging. It seemed kind of lame, but then I thought, if people were dancing that would seem just as lame to me. But now the crowd is mostly gone, and there are two or three people lying down in front of the band, staring up at the sky. I don't know why, but lying down, in all honesty, seems to me like the most appropriate thing to do at a show.

By the way, I changed the blog description to reflect Domino's new and enraging tagline. Call any Domino's up and see for yourself. It's almost as good as the CASH CASH CYAAAAAASH!!! infomercials. Don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! I can only hope it sticks.

FFXII

I'm currently on a self-imposed break from Final Fantasy XII. As with many other FF games, XII has destroyed any sense of time and responsibility. Every time I look at the clock, approximately 10X as much time has passed compared to my own estimates. This makes me laugh sometimes, if only because laughter is the healthiest way to deal with catastrophe.

On the other hand, it makes for an excellent stimulant. I can pretty much stay awake until any time I choose simply by levelling for hours, which this game has made relatively convenient. I haven't looked at a FAQ except for a few instances either, which means I'll be spending even more time on this game than previously. It's kind of a new experience for me to not cheat my way through an RPG. It's a little less boring, too.

First impressions so far, the loss of the normal FF director and music writer (I forget their names) shows pretty clearly. The music doesn't seem to be on par with past FF's, and the characters seem like they were designed by focus groups. The two leads look a lot like the same in FFX, but the story quality just isn't there.

Of course I'm only probably 1/4-1/3 through the story, so this could completely change. Actually it probably will, I don't remember really getting hooked on an FF game until near the ending.
