FFXII
I'm currently on a self-imposed break from Final Fantasy XII. As with many other FF games, XII has destroyed any sense of time and responsibility. Every time I look at the clock, approximately 10X as much time has passed compared to my own estimates. This makes me laugh sometimes, if only because laughter is the healthiest way to deal with catastrophe.
On the other hand, it makes for an excellent stimulant. I can pretty much stay awake until any time I choose simply by levelling for hours, which this game has made relatively convenient. I haven't looked at a FAQ except for a few instances either, which means I'll be spending even more time on this game than previously. It's kind of a new experience for me to not cheat my way through an RPG. It's a little less boring, too.
First impressions so far, the loss of the normal FF director and music writer (I forget their names) shows pretty clearly. The music doesn't seem to be on par with past FF's, and the characters seem like they were designed by focus groups. The two leads look a lot like the same in FFX, but the story quality just isn't there.
Of course I'm only probably 1/4-1/3 through the story, so this could completely change. Actually it probably will, I don't remember really getting hooked on an FF game until near the ending.
